DIGGING OUT

The Campaign for the Abolition of Terrier Work (CATW) exposes the cruelty of digging out foxes and the injuries also inflicted on terriers. We are seeking legislation in the UK and Ireland outlawing the use of terriers to terrorise animals underground. Terrierwork is one of the cruellest so called 'sports' and should be illegal in any civilised society.

Some of our photos and videos graphically illustrate the horror of foxhunting and terrier work. These may cause distress.

Dog Fighting

Those who participate in dog fighting get the same kick out of it that a terrierman does fox-baiting. They get the same pride at the fighting qualities of their dog. There are many similarity between the dog fighting and terrierwork. In fact by the mid-19th century, dog fighting had replaced badger baiting as one of the most popular blood sports in the UK.

In recent years there have been a big increase in the number of dog fights particular in East Lancashire and the West Midlands.

As a BBC Panaroma programme showed in 2007, many dog-fighting groups congregate in disguise of terrier and lurcher shows held throughout the UK and Ireland.
