Those who participate in dog fighting get the same kick out of it that a terrierman does fox-baiting or terrier-baiting. They get the same pride at the fighting qualities of their dog. There are many similarity between the dog fighting and terrierwork. In fact by the mid-19th century, dog fighting had replaced badger baiting as one of the most popular blood sports in the country.
As a BBC Panaroma programme showed in 2007, many dog-fighting groups congregate in disguise of terrier and lurcher shows held throughout the UK and Ireland.
